The day started at 7:00AM. Set up time was scheduled for 8:30AM. It felt so good to see all of the support. Our list of volunteers included Chef Gregory Leavy, JeCarlos Crockam-Encore Sports Management, Mike Williams - Key II Entertainment, Meredith Charleston - Mary Kay & E & G Construction, Sharen Rooks - The Sharen Rooks Agency, Andy Collins - Stain Your Brain, Anthony "Dulaa" Homes and Hank - Reality Records plus three other performers and myself.
The kids were very excited about the event and receptive to all those who performed. They could not get enough of the question and answer session with Dulaa. Dulaa gave out "U Can Be" CDs for all right answers. Chef Leavy was interesting as well. When the kids learned that he cook for Lil Wayne and Birdman when they travel through Memphis, TN, it was over. Becoming a Chef never sounded more interesting. ;0) One of the kids asked Chef Leavy if he would cook for them. He said he would look into coming back to do an actual cooking demonstration in the future.
At the end of the day, it was a very successful event. Thanks again to all of our sponsors. We will take a quick rest and then move on the the next thing. Stay Tuned!!
